This image shows the progress of Phase 1B of the Kassier Rd upgrade, a critical part of the development of Westown.
Visible in the foreground is the temporary bypass road under construction on the western side of Kassier Rd. Running from the N3 to Cliffdale Rd, this temporary road is designed like the one built on the south side of the N3, meaning cars can travel through this area with no disruptions. This makes for safer working conditions and allows the upgrade of Kassier Rd to continue uninterrupted.
This tarred (pothole-free) bypass road will also have provisions for pedestrians and will be in place for approximately 18 months. PHASE 2 of the Kassier Rd upgrade is from Hillcrest Hospital / Alverstone intersection to the R103 (Old Main Rd). This will get underway in late 2025/early 2026.
