On 14th February 2023, the Kassier Bypass Rd opened with motorists travelling between the N3 and P559/Milky Way (both north and south) doing so on a newly built tar road.
This bypass has been put in place to allow upgrade work on Kassier Rd itself to continue at a quicker pace and with limited disruptions to the flow of traffic. It is anticipated that this bypass will be in place for the next 12 months.
This is Phase 1A of the Kassier Rd upgrade project and signals the start of the development of Westown, Shongweni. Phase 1B of the upgrade began on Monday 19th February 2023 with preparation work to the section of the road between the N3 and Alverstone Rd.
